Meet Chef Suse
As long as I can remember I have had a love affair with food. I grew up in Staten Island in a multicultural, but mostly Italian home and some of my fondest memories are of standing in the kitchen, working along side my mother, creating the traditional dishes that have become part of the tapestry of our American life.
As time passed I was old enough to hop on the Staten Island Ferry and cross over to the multicultural banquet that was Manhattan. As a college student my fortune was limited, but the food was plentiful, as long as you knew where to find the little places that provided something scrumptious for a couple of bucks.
After graduation I took my place among the suits and spent 14 years staring at a computer and planning my culinary escape. On the weekend I took a part time job at a local gourmet shop and absorbed all I could from the chef/owner.
My second marriage pointed me in the direction that I am traveling now. The encouragement from my husband John gave me the push I needed to change careers and I graduated from The International Culinary Center(formally The French Culinary Institute). I was now a chef and I traded my suit for a torque. I continued my training at 21 Club, The Sea Grill and The Ryland Inn.
I took a short break to raise my two children. And now I am pleased to be back in the kitchen, excited to stir up the future. It’s going to be delicious!
